ORTHOKERATOLOGY, also called ortho-K or OK, is an overnight service in which custom-designed contact lenses (retainers) are used to gently reshape the front surface of your eye. The contact lenses are worn at night when you sleep and removed when you wake up. These lenses gently reshape your cornea so you can see perfectly during the day.

How Orthokeratology Works

Ideal prescriptions are up to -5.00 of nearsightedness and -1.75 of surface astigmatism. We can figure out at the consultation if you are a candidate based on your prescription, topography, and needs/wants.

Improvements can usually be seen the next day, with the procedure stabilizing after a week for most patients. OK does not permanently change the shape of the eye. Your eyes’ shape will revert back to original state within 1-4 weeks if you stop wearing the lenses.

Orthokeratology lenses are surprisingly comfortable to wear. Most people comment that they forget they have lenses in after the first week of wear.
